Bought their album with "breakfast at tiffany's" when I was 12 or so. Was very disappointed. Probably my first experience with a one hit wonder

Seaweed was one of the first bands that came to mind...jawbreaker was/still is one of my all time favorite bands (had no idea they made a video for boxcar though)
and like you said--depends on who's looking.

I know they had some hits but I always thought cracker could've been bigger.

Self

Do yourself a favor and check his first record "Subliminal Plastic Motives". Has a Beck vibe and they really came out around the same time, but Beck ended up with a hit single that catapulted his career

Failure I only heard Fantastic Planet for the first time a couple of years ago but it has to be the most overlooked album of the 90s.

Without a doubt. That album is so good.

Also will throw in Ammonia and Deconstruction. Deconstruction (Eric Avery and Dave Navarro post Jane's) never toured and only pit out one album. It is as good if not better than any Jane's album.

Kent - Isola is a fantastic album. I saw them open for Silverchair back in '99.

Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen is my #1 album of all time, so I'm going to agree with that selection

Hum. I know "Stars" made the radio, but they never got huge.

You'd prefer an Astronaut is my favorite album ever.

All great!

I saw Poster Children and Jawbox (and Pegboy) together at Metropolis in Lafayette in '94... great show!

For Squirrels - made one album then half the band died when their van crashed. And it's a pretty damn good album.

For Squirrels - Mighty K.C.

Good story about the band and the tragedy:
