Opinions on Clutch

I've recently gotten into this band. After I get off work, I'm buying Psychic Warfare off Amazon. I have all other studio albums, but I've only acquired most within the last three months. The only ones I've listened to all the way through is Clutch and The Elephant Riders.
I used to hate this band when I was younger. Then I saw Neil Fallon on That Metal Show and figured I would give them another shot. They have since become one of my favorite bands.
I'm curious as to where the albums fall in everyone's opinion.
Albums in chronological order:
Transnational Speedway League
Clutch
The Elephant Riders
Jam Room
Pure Rock Fury
Blast Tyrant
Robot Hive/Exodus
From Beale Street to Oblivion
Strange Cousins From the West
Earth Rocker
Psychic Warfare

Clutch is one of my favorite bands Fallon is one of my favorite lead singers. Try The Company Band and Dunsmuir also.

One of my favorites. See them live if you get a chance. Tough to rank the albums but I'd say
Robot Hive/Exodus
From Beale Street to Oblivion
The Elephant Riders
Earth Rocker
Clutch
Blast Tyrant
Pure Rock Fury
Any of those first four could be my number one at any given time.

Love them. I've seen them 4 times now, they put on a great live show. Definitely check them out if you get the chance.
Electric Worry is probably my favorite song of theirs, but damn do they have a ton of good ones.

Awesome band. I probably listen to the self titled album the most. I actually haven't listened to their newer stuff yet.
I've seen them live a couple times several years ago, and they were the most high energy band I've seen. Nobody in the room was standing still.

From what I can tell by hearing previews, they transition to a lot of different styles. And lyrically they come from a different angle than most bands. They seem like a tight group of musicians.

No two albums are alike for them. They really do have an amazing range of abilities. I agree with Brosef's list for the most part. May jump Earth Rocker up to 3 or 2, I really dig that album.
It is funny seeing them in concert because they come out on stage and just look like a bunch of middle aged men you'd see at a bowling alley or something. Then they just shred.

They mix rock, blues, funk, country, and a few other genres. Psychic Warfare was recorded in Texas and obviously heavily inspired by ZZ Top. Earth Rocker was recorded after they toured with Motorhead and that inspired them to do a heavier album. Blast Tyrant has a lot of funk elements. I know they really like New Orleans musicians. Jean Paul Gaster played with Mike Dillon at the Maple Leaf a few months ago. I have seen Suplecs and Stanton Moore open for them in New Orleans, plus they've had Johnny Vidacovich and Mike Dillon join them on stage. Don't know if they do that kind of stuff in other cities.

On That Metal Show, Eddie Trunk asked Neil Fallon about their ability to float from genre to genre.
"As a band we never set out to sound any particular way, and it's worked for us. When you don't have goals, you can't fail."
