I've recently just discovered his music, and I have to say I truly am glad I have. Someone who slipped through the cracks of popular music and was only appreciated until well after his death both critically and commercially.

Not a huge fan, but Pink Moon is one of my favorite all-time songs. Riverman, Three Hours and From the Morning are also keepers. The rest is too "I smoked a ton of weed before I wrote these lyrics." At least for my lyrical tastes.

Love his music, I put his songs on any playlist I have for when I'm just relaxing on a porch or if I'm fly fishing.

Great tortured artist, although some may have to be in the right mood to truly appreciate his music. Pretty good acoustic guitarist as well who experimented with some cool alternative tunings. I listen to him often.

Day Is Done

This one always captivates me. I agree that you need to be in the right music to listen to him.

I absolutely love Nick Drake. I could listen to his stuff any time. No specific mood required.

I've actually found it difficult to find similar artists who can replicate the simplicity of his warm woodsy sounding acoustic guitar (though his tunings, and picking pattern is anything but simple) + soothing voice. And it's not like he was any sort of accomplished singer, either. But his music certainly has a beautiful and haunting aesthetic, doesn't it?

My searches have led me to Bert Jansch, Jeff Buckley, Tim Buckley, Jose Gonzalez, Kings of Convenience, and Iron & Wine.

EDIT: Eduardo Mateo as well, if you can handle a little español: Quien te Viera
