That's a bit over-the-top-fanboy-sentiment, but I agree with it all.

Huge fan, but I don't have faith in what they might do now. Hopeful I will be pleasantly surprised, but I'm fully prepared to be over them. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they call it quits after this.

I did not care for it the first time I listened to it, but like a lot of radiohead, it is a grower.

Go back and listen to 15 Step, Weird Fishes, All I Need, Reckoner, Jigsaw, and Videotape and tell me that it's average and uneventful. Even better, go watch the Live from the Basement on Youtube of these songs. Many fans and critics feel that In Rainbows is their best album.

I love In Rainbows and was super optimistic this was changing the trajectory of the band, even though Thief was somewhat of a "rock" album. I don't mind the electronica loop stuff every now and then, but if that's what has their interest right now (which Yorke has said at some point that's all he's about), then good on them, but I'm gone.

They seem to like the # 10, so I'm thinking they do one more after this one.

Thom and Phil have both been really busy with their side projects, and Johnny is really deep into composing and scoring films. Not sure what Ed and Colin get up to in the down time, but it doesn't seem like any of them NEED Radiohead. They still enjoy playing together, honestly, but they're not a band that's going to hang on for too long, becoming the Stones.

I just really need to hear the rest of this album to get a better feel of where I think they're at. I'm still somewhat blown away at how meh KoL was.

I kind of think Johnny gave into Thom and said, "ok, you can have this one, but I want the last 2."

Actually, it seems as though Greenwood was the driving force behind it, seeing as how he is a programmer:

quote:

Multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood told Rolling Stone that the band had not wanted to "pick up guitars and write chord sequences. We didn't want to sit in front of a computer either. We wanted a third thing, which involved playing and programming."

I really liked KoL It was somewhat of a studio experiment for them, and I find it to be an interesting album.

Seperator, Give up the Ghost, and Daily Mail(not included on the album, but was on the KoL basement sessions, and is one of my favorite Radiohead songs) are great songs.

Bloom, Morning Mr. Magpie, Little by Little, and Lotus Flower are also really good.

Battles is great. Greenwood builds a lot of his music programming equipment, dude has some far out gear.

I liked most of them all right but they didn't get nearly the amount of listens that I did with previous albums.

They are headlining ACL this year.

I'm IN that number for sure.

Will be my first time.

My ultimate music bucket list.

I just really started listening to them about a year and half ago. They are very tough to get into. I liked OK Computer & In Rainbows early on, but everything else took a while. It's a real process but now they are my favorite band. You definitely can't judge them by a few songs. The sum is definitely greater than the parts. I also recommend watching In Rainbows live from the basement. It's truly excellent. I understand why some people won't like them, but some people get out of control with the hate because they don't get it. They are definitely not for everyone, but you cannot deny their talent and impact. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I'd say give them another shot and dig a little deeper.

This thread prompted me to listen to the KoL Basement sessions at the gym on my lunchbreak, and it made me think that if they had have released the basement sessions as the actual album, it would have been received much better. Those songs with 2 drummers sound more organic, and makes a lot of difference.

Just finished a Kid A session from beginning to end in one setting for the first time in a while.

This might be my favorite by them. I always say In Rainbows is my absolutely go to, but man, Kid A is just insanely good.

Gonna run through the whole catalogue this week in anticipation for the new release.
