Post your reviews when you get a chance. I'm gonna give it a listen today. I listened to a brief preview through each song I'm liking what I hear.

Listening now, will update with thoughts.
Edit: Overall, good album of course, Stapleton is the man and I love anyone who shits on the terrible state of country music. His voice sounds as great as ever and the songwriting is on point. This album has an overall for bluesy feel to it than Traveler. Here are my notes on the individual tracks:
1. Broken Halos - First song sounds good, but felt somewhat canned and not overtly impressive
2. Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning - Good tune, classic sad country song
3. Second One to Know - Good, lively tune, enjoyed it
4. Up to No Good Livin' - Really good track, possible favorite on the album, has the bones of a classic sounding country song, like it's been around for years
5. Either Way - not a bad song, just very slow and kind of middle of the road.
6. I Was Wrong - unexpected sound from this song, doesn't sound like a country song, good track. Has a bluesy feel with lots of soul
7. Without Your Love - Pretty middle of the road track
8. Them Stems - really good track, bluesy song with a good guitar rhythm
9. Death Row - Slow bluesy song and a solid closing track.
Those were just some quick notes I jotted down while listening because it's a slow morning and it's Friday.
Overall I recommend the album and want to catch Stapleton live in Dallas in October.
Favorite song on the album is Up to No Good Livin

The biggest thing for me was, how would the public and critics take this one compared to the last one? Thus far, quite well. Glowing reviews from Rolling Stone and others.
I knew it would be solid. But even I must admit the blues edge on this one is flat out awesome. And I like that his voice remains the star of the show.
I hope he does "I Was Wrong" on Jimmy Fallon Monday night.
Volume two can speed its way up.

There is very, very little that I like the first time I hear it.
This is shaping up to be the exception. Second one to know is flat out awesome as well as up to no good livin...

I've gone through it once on Spotify this morning, will probably go back through it again later.
I wasn't a huge fan of Second One to Know when he performed it on the ACMs last month, but listening this morning it has grown on me some.
Really like Up to No Good Livin' too.
While Death Row is a good song, not sure how it fits on the album. In an overall view, the album deals with relationships, either ones that have ended or about how one person has saved the other and how love transcends. Death Row doesn't seem to fit that motif. But then again maybe I am misreading the collection and trying to pigeonhole it into a format like Isbell and Simpson do on their albums.

Wife said he was on bobby bones this am. I missed it but she said it was really good. I'll have to hit the podcast this afternoon.

unrelated...but when the album ended this AM on Spotify...its started playing a bunch of shitty country...why can't Spotify see the difference?
(I don't listen to shite country so that's not why it did that)

Just realized "either way" is on this album. That's a song he wrote for leeann Womack years ago. It's one of my favorites he's wrote

Just gave it a full listen. Digging the blues feel to it as well

It's good, but there are no tracks on here that have that kick to it to make it super memorable
Traveler had many. It's still a really solid album, though.

Love this album, and i don't like most albums on first listen. The blues is great. Kinda album you put on when you're sitting outside on a quiet night having a few brews

The worse thing about it is the album is too damn short. I need MOAR.

well there's one on every crowd
Maybe it'll grow on me, but even on round two its' just to slick. Too much electric and steel guitar, and not enough acoustic or rock vibe. Was hoping for more of the Outlaw State Of Mind and Sometime I Cry (from Traveler) or Jompson type rock... although for me his voice best fit was with the SteelDrivers when he went more gravelly (Good Corn Liquor/Peacemaker).

This is my jam.
Beautiful here in Atlanta (unless you're on the interstates) so i'll be headed out to patio, throw on spotify and listen to the new music again. Seems like a great night for a scotch or maybe bourbon in celebration of Derby weekend. Will put baseball on the TV (muted, of course) and truly listen to it. Haven't been able to sit down and listen to the entire album from beginning to end since it came out, only been background music.
