And it is absolute fire! I had my doubts about this album having too much Slash influence based on the singles they released...or teaser tracks rather. There is a clear message in this album which I was ALSO afraid of because a few of my favorite metal bands had just recently tried this and absolutely FAILED (Parkway Drive, Periphery to name a few).
But this is easily their best album. No question about it. I gave it a good 2 uninterrupted listens so I could make an educated assessment without blindly just throwing out a perfect 10 because....you know, fandom.
I give it a solid 9.7. Only thing preventing me from giving it a perfect score is just those 1-2 tracks at the beginning that sound like they should've been "World on Fire" b-sides by Slash and the Conspirators.
Highly recommend the album. Not just from an AB fan perspective, but just as a fan and someone who appreciates musicians who try their best to put out quality music regardless of topic or message.
For what its worth, The Last Hero is #2 in the rock charts in almost every major country in the world less than 12 hours after being released. Trailing only Green Day

They've gotten better with each album. They're far from the Creed 2.0 band they started out as back in 2004.

Their 2004 album was just fine

Their show in Dallas is live streaming on Facebook right now through Live Nation.

It was a great album...and not really creed-y at all IMO. I saw them in 2006 and it was a GREAT show.

Yes, looking forward to it. I ordered it from Amazon. Should be in tomorrow.

Never said it wasn't....but the perception was they were "Creed with a new singer" when that album was released.

Here are the tracks if you care to listen The Last Hero
This Side of Fate is my favorite song. I love their dark/gothic sounding tracks. Mark and Myles do a great job with the arrangements. It is awesome how far Tremonti's guitar work and composition of songs has come over the years. He has always been great, but still manages to get better.

Maybe I'm missing something, but after listening to parkway Drive's Ire more than a couple times, I realize it's actually not dog shite. It's just different, but not in a bad way, like Metallica's Black Album. And I've heard nothing bad from Periphery. Nothing. But that's just me, and I'll have to check out this new Alterbridge stuff.
