Does anyone have a recommendation for music teachers in the BR area that are good with kids? Interested in someone who can expose them to several different instruments.
thanks

A lot of purists might poopoo it because it's light on theory and technique, but if there's a School of Rock in your area, it's totally worth it to us.
Our son did lessons for 2 years at 30 minutes a week with a private teacher. He rarely practiced and seemed to not really give a shite about music. We tried out School of Rock which gives him a weekly 30 minute private and a 90 minute band practice with his "band" (they loosely group kids together who can work out rehearsal schedules.. means sometimes you double up on instruments and such, but it works out). They also put on concerts a few times a year to show off what they've learned.
He absolutely loves music now. Wants to go to the School early and hang out with the other musicians, practices much more at home, and really seems to be taking pride in his accomplishments.
Your mileage may vary, but it's been a totally worthwhile program for our son (even though the cost is significantly more than his private lessons were).

Baton Rouge Music Studios is a great operation for kids. Call them and ask for Doug and he'll show you around and introduce you to the applicable staff. Confident you will be impressed.
