I enjoyed the hell out of it except for the ending.

I saw Metallica live at Bonnaroo and it was terrible. I'm not paying money to see that crap

Metallica live just ain't good anymore except for kirk. and even he has lost some edge. My opinion he was his best in 1998-1999. Right around the S&M days. Doesn't help that Newsted left.

I saw them on the Colbert Report and had to laugh a little. They just look a little too old to be doing that stuff and it makes them look silly IMO

I couldn't agree more. Between the bassist doing his stupid usual schtick and all the other cliche moves they pulled, I was cringing as I watched it.

The first time I saw 'em was at UNO in '88 and the last time was at the Cajun Dome in '97 with C.O.C., and those and the other four or so times in between that were kick arse. That said, you couldn't pay me to sit through one of their shows now.

Probably the coolest single experience I ever had at a concert was when they played the Assembly center in May of '92 on the last day of finals. Jason came over to the side of the stage where I was blowing a fat J on the rail and asked if he could hit it. He took it from me and burned it down while he played before giving me the roach back.

Nah, maybe half. I'd been hitting 'em all through the concert at that point. That's now he knew where to look. Didn't bother me a bit as I had more ready to go in my cigarette pack.

Forgot this is more of an emo music board. My bad. Metallica is into their own music when they play live. How uncool.

Went the Dallas showing Friday night & Kirk Hammett made an appearance in the theater to thank the fans. The movie was incredible. If you are a real fan & follow the concepts of all their albums & tour setups you will completely get it. I was upset they did 2 songs from the Load album & also Nothing Else Matters(Don't get me started on that song) but all the other songs go over great. The closing scene at the end where they are just sitting on stage alone in the Arena playing Orion is musicianship at its finest. We all know they are not the same band as 81-89 but this is about as good as you will get since the peak years of the first 5 albums ending with Justice.

I'm really not trying to rip on them, just giving my honest opinion. I understand that's what they do, I was just saying I thought it looked weird with them being in their 40's/50's.

I thought it was pretty legit, but I can watch grainy concert footage on youtube for hours, so this being in IMAX 3D with the volume cranked I loved it.

Based on what I've seen, this is not a music board at all

I honestly don't like Metallica that much, but I do want to see this. I can stand them enough to see them in IMAX, but what sold it for me is the director, Nimrod Antal, and Dane Dehaan, who is on an amazing hot streak. It could be a fun viewing. I'll check it.

They've been talking about touring with this stage next year. I'd like to see that.

I still don't quite get what it is. Is it a movie? A concert?
