5SOS. They claim to be the new wave of pop punk, being "inspired by Green Day and Blink-182" but in reality are another boy band in the vein of 1D.

Any artists that don't write their own material and can't play an instrument...so pretty much all of pop, country, and rap.

Green Day
Lady Gaga
GWAR (although that's the point with them and I LOVE their shows)
Rob Zombie
Bieber
Every current rapper. Rap died when Biggie and Tupac died.
ETA: Manowar is fricking great! And, their album covers are great! The Manowar album "The Triumph of Steele" is nearly a perfect album.

I don't get any of your list.
KISS and Meatloaf came out in the super theatrical 70's. Just products of the era. (Rocky Horror, rock operas)
Poison was just another hair band, nothing we hadn't seen before.
Nickleback was kind of new. But I would say that a lot of other bands coming out around that time had similar sounds. If you want to talk about their overtly sexual frat boy lyrics being gimmicky, then I agree.

one of the best bands to come out of the 80s/90s

quote:I don't get that you don't get that I can't take those listed seriously. Since you didn't list any bands, I can only assume that you take all bands/artists seriously. That's cool.
I don't get any of your list.
quote:I'm a product of the early 70s, so I'm well aware of the theatrics of that decade. Doesn't change the fact that I can't take them seriously as a band and an artist.

quote:Poison was a completely different level of cheesy hair band. There were rumors CC didn't even play the guitar. Their videos featured a drummer who stood up. Way too over the top for me. Couldn't take them serious.

If I have to explain Nickleback, then I can't help you.
Not saying any of these I listed aren't talented or didn't produce some good music, but as the thread title indicates, I can't take them serious.
