Holy sh$&&! It was frickin phenomenal. Anton Fig on drums, Michael Rhodes on bass, Reese Wynans on keys! JB absolutely killed it on guitar, one rip and solo after another, mixed w great vocals.
I'm 50 and have been to numerous concerts over the years. Wouldn't trade any of them for this experience. If you ever get the chance don't miss it!

I ended up going also (in town for Thanksgiving). It was a really great show. Probably the 3rd or 4th time I've seen him and it's interesting how his band and stage show have evolved over the years. He started out with a power trio a la Hendrix or SRV. Now with Wynans on keys and the 2-piece horn section it opens up a lot of possibilities he didn't have with just bass & drums. Also nowadays it tends to be a little less about him and more about his other musicians. And Anton Fig is a tremendous drummer. I remember when he played in Paul Schafer's band on Dave Letterman's show. Buncha really talented guys and Joe puts on a very entertaining and professional show.
Oh, and the Saenger! Holy cow what a beautiful venue. They really did that place up nice.

I'm telling people at work about it but no one knows who he is, WTF!
Thx for responding, I needed that!
If I can, I'll see him again if he gets anywhere even remotely close to Louisiana.

We're going tonight in Houston. Sounds like it will be a blast.
Revention Center/Bayou Music Center/Verizon Wireless venue. Not my favorite place to see a concert but they have some great artists roll through there on a consistent basis.

Before the show last night I read that he might do an acoustic set, but it was all plugged in. I'll check out the acoustic DVD.

Another show coming up at the Saenger that y'all won't want to miss is Experience Hendrix on March 6. I saw it in COS a couple of years ago and was blown away. If you enjoyed JB last night, this one is a must see.

Any of you who went to see him own or actually can PLAY guitar? Does he make you want to kill yourself?
Just his YouTube vids I've seen anger me and my youth wasted. If I'd have put as much effort into a guitar as I did in "flipping" Defender on Atari. I could be 50% the player that Joe is. And that's plenty.

I don't think any amount of practicing would get me near his level. He was a child prodigy. I saw an interview with him one time and he began by saying, "I started out trained as a classical guitarist but at the age of 7, I discovered the blues..." LOL

Check out the YouTube interview w Jane Pauley when he was only 13 years old. VERY cool story.

Truly a prodigy.

Great video Thibodaux.
End of the 80's video-big hair, mullets, Ford Taurus', 3/4 sleeve Oklahoma jerseys, John Lee Hooker drinking whiskey onstage....
He's thinned out a bit too....
Joe Bonamassa just tore it up last night in Houston. Very highly recommended if you enjoy great (guitar) music. Bring your earplugs...
It was the fastest 2:15 in history. All electric, only one short talk break, and the rest just out and out jamming. I had never heard of him until a few years ago and a buddy of mine turned me on to him. Thanks Turk.
