I streamed the show. The acoustic terrapin suite was a thing of beauty.

JRAD really is the best thing going in the entire jam band scene.

without Mayer you wouldn't be hearing those jams in stadiums all summer long
yes he's a douche but he can play
weir and the others like him and the music is being served

I hope he sticks with it because at my age and theirs I never thought I'd be seeing live Grateful Dead music ever again

IMO it's a waste of Mayer's talents to not be writing and recording original new music. Hope he's doing that on the side while he's out touring.

Eh, at this point it is just a cover band and there any plenty better out there. They have some moments but Dead & Co don't come off as anything special.

I saw a lot of dead shows
a lot

there is no question something special about being in the room with Bobby and Billy and Mickey hearing that music, which today is the best we can do. i can thank John Mayer for making that economically feasible in 2016. It ain't nearly the same but if it's meaningful to you as something other than a groovy tune it's good enough

Not sure how anybody could knock Mayer for his experience this summer. I heard an interview on SiriusXM 23 with him this summer, and he truly embraces the GD and appreciates it for what it is, and I can think of no other talent more suited for his run. And dude's very talented.

His trio album, his live in LA set (Where the Light Is), born and raised and especially Continuum are all quality.

He has some cringe pop songs, but also has tons of outstanding songs. I've seen him live 4 times and he's easily one of the best I've watched.

to be fair I think some people say they dislike his playing because they dislike him, and he is hard to take sometimes. shite he's selling laundry detergent now...

his personality and the way he presents himself is just about the polar opposite of the dead. On stage though he gets it

John Mayer - Austin City Limits

"I love how John plays, maybe he even knows how good he is..." Eric Clapton.

I was ripping pretty hard on Mayer when the Dead & Co. tour was announced, but I have to hand it to him, he really committed to it. I mean the guy went out and got a custom PRS made so he could exactly mimic Jerry's sound, that's dedication.
