Awesome local blog

Also taking submissions. So if you see a show and want to review it, or if your friends band is really good and you want people to know about them, email the blog.

quote:

Jive Flamingo: What’s it all about?

Here at Jive Flamingo, we’re gonna write about music. But we’re not gonna do it because we’re so cool and so sophisticated and have more refined tastes than you. (Honestly, we barely know what we are talking about and we can’t even match our socks so we weren’t going to fool you anyways.) We’re gonna do it because we are alive, and because music makes life a lot better.

And for those of you nodding your head from your couch already jamming out with your earbuds already in your ears, let’s take it a step further: LIVE music makes life hella better. The energy generated between a live performer and a grateful audience is pure magic that simply refuses to be captured on tape.

So on this blog, we’ll do some celebrating of big, national names for sure. But we’re also gonna spend a lotta time getting to know and showing love to our local music community. And in southern Louisiana, that won’t be very hard at all. We’ll call out upcoming events, do some interviews, check out some albums, rant about good shows, and hopefully coax you off the sofa and out to listen… and maybe even dance? (Don’t worry, we will always look more foolish than you.)

But even if you stay under your snuggie and just click around, we want you to connect with artists that really resonate with you– with music that makes you glad to be here on this little blue planet, even when the livin’ is hard.

And that’s what we’re about.

He has some weird butthurt about Baton Rouge that I can't figure out. The dude goes out of his way to trash the city, which suggests that his trolling goes back beyond Jamaica to Minnesota.

I dont really hate Baton Rouge. I had a great 4 and a half year run there. The music scene, however, is not great by any means- especially compared to what is going down in the city 90 miles east of it.
