At work, doing a lot of paperwork today, and decided to listen to this for the first time in awhile.

Good stuff.

I bring that one out every year or so. You Don't Mess Around with Jim was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

That bastard was playing guitar while singing that well. Amazing.

He was playing rhythm and the little guy played lead. But Croce's "rhythm" was like many others lead.

Watch a live version of "Operator" that shite does not look easy. Hell of a lot of chord changes while singing. And the little guy is just picking away.

Lover's Cross is a good one, I've never heard it on the radio.

Was always impressed by the guitar work on "Operator" I got to see him and the other guitarist do it at a college concert a few months before he died, the other guitarist also died in the crash in Natchitoches. The NTSB has accident reports online going back to the 60s, I looked that one up, they concluded the most likely cause of the crash was the pilot had heart attack during takeoff.

Damn shame. Would have loved to have seen what his career would have become. I believe he wrote his wife a letter that he mailed right before he died where he said that he was considering giving up touring and his disgust at parts of the music industry.

Would have been nice to see. Probably would have made it back to the HOB and Casino type venue circuit. And I would have gladly given his old arse my money.

Jim Croce was an incredible talent. Love his work. Even if he did look just like Luigi.

Girlfriend at the time was going to school at Northwestern. She was at that last concert. Tragic.
