Bad Penny

Rory, IMO, is one of the most often overlooked guitar players of yesteryear. Plus he owned one of the sexiest axes ever, and played it through one of my favorite amps.

Not really. I'm just a 26 year old with a hard on for strats and AC30s

ETA: and 3-piece bands live. A 3-piece brings a weird kind of energy you usually don't get from bigger bands. It's stripped-down balls-out rock. You can pick out every nuance of every member. It really is a beautiful thing

EATA: Just noticed his drummer plays Remo CS head as his resos. Weird as hell but his kit sounds great.

Top Priority is such a great album. He makes that thing squeal and plays electric sitar, dulcimer, etc. anyways, love rory.

Yeah. He's a unique talent for sure. His style was so simple but so awesome.

Brian May has said he was a huge influence on him and you can definitely tell if you listen to Queen. That Dallas Rangemaster treble booster has such a unique sound. Great artist that died too young.

When I named him one of my favorites in the Your Top 3 Guitar Masters thread from about a month ago LINK nobody took any notice. I saw Rory live on 5 separate occasions. The first time he opened for Fleetwood Mac and Deep Purple in 1973. I was 13 at the time, and that is still my favorite concert.

1972. I was still in the Army stationed in Ga when I saw him last. Outdoor concert. Vaguely remember "Messing with the kid, Bullfrog Blues, laundromat". Definitely high energy!

In the early 70's he was pretty popular in NO, courtesy of our then rock radio station, WRNO. They wold play cuts from his Live in Europe and Blueprint albums in heavy rotation.

Your opinion is correct...he very well may be at the top of that list.

Rory looks oddly like John Cusak in that video.
