LSU Alum Wannabe is flaunting his new Les Paul so I guess it's on me to return fire.

I found a pretty nice Gretsch Alligator resonator on the local craigslist the other day. It has had the action lowered and also the original pickup has been replaced with a National Slimline. For me it's a learning guitar to mess around with in open G and maybe learn some Delta Blues stuff.

I see those but refuse to pick them up. I already have 4 guitars. None of which I can play well.

I don't need another style to muddy waTers

I see it.

I hear you but I always need some sort of stretch goal out in front of me so I don't get complacent. Like this

That thing is nice. I keep my roundneck in open D. I was actually looking at mine last night and thinking of how I need to restring it.

Open D would be the other tuning I'd be interested in with it. It's not far from open G: B's become A's and G's become F#'s. Right after I got it I put it in D and played Little Martha. Sounded pretty good.

As for strings, it needs a new set. The previous owner said he never played it (which is why he was selling it) and it still had the strings it came with. I have a couple of sets of GHS Americanas (.013 - .056) I'm gonna try on it. I may need to go bigger if I'm going to use a slide with it since the action is so low. I really hope I don't have to raise the action back up because it frets really nice but using a slide is going to be a challenge.
