Red Rocks is on my bucketlist. I've been to The Gorge twice for Sasquatch. Easily the best venue I've ever been to, outdoor or indoor. Just beautiful.

It's way up there.

The Mishawaka is also pretty awesome, though certainly not on that scale.

Sitting and listening to music with white water rafters floating along behind the stage and mountain goats climbing on the hills behind it is pretty cool.

Saw Toots and the Maytals there way back in the day.

It's pretty freaking great. I can't think of an outdoor venue that tops it.

Saw Phish there, but not WSP. Am I doing this right?

Gorge>Red Rocks

Both are great venues. Red Rocks just gets a lot more shitty acts.

I actually prefer Red Rocks over the Gorge.

The Gorge is beautiful, and it really is something you have to see in person. Logistically though, the trip is more of a pain in the arse than making it out to Red Rocks.

I guess it's persaonl preference. If camping is your thing, the Gorge is the way to go. (although it offers no shade)

Gorge also has a lawn, whereas Red Rocks just has long rows (which can be a pain in the arse if you're in the middle)

The view from the lawn at the gorge is absolutely spectacular but when you are down on the floor at the gorge you don't really see the gorge behind the stage and the ambiance is kind of lost. There is no better concert vantage point than the first ten rows or so at red rocks. The sound down there is electric.

apples and oranges

The Gorge is an incredible venue, but I'm not sure that it's possible to beat the total package of Red Rocks. The venue itself is incredible, but the sound is breathtaking at times due to the acoustics. Their new sound system apparently made it even better.

The major downside of Red Rocks is the weather being so unpredictable during the spring.

Don't think it is considered "outside" but on my list is to visit the Volcano Room in Tennessee
