The drummers ride cymbal in "L.A. Woman" is the best ride I've ever heard.

If not, he is certainly on the short list. A lot of younger people don't know this but around 1978-1980 there was a Doors Revival Movement. Suddenly everybody "rediscovered " The Doors. Suddenly every VW Van had Doors insignia everywhere. Suddenly some kid at your HS was channeling Jim Morrison in the middle of conversation at his hall locker. It was insufferable and thankfully short-lived.

No. Kurt Cobain easily eclipses Jim Morrison in that regard, and I wouldn't even presume to call Cobain the most overrated rock icon of all time.

Perfect way of explaining it.

The band was phenomenal.

No. He was a wild dude that lived a wild life while fronting a great band. Isn't that what we what from our rock icons? Like him or not he can't be called a poser. I don't want my rock icons doing P.S.A.'s. I want them tearing up crap and making great music. Jim was the real deal.

Dude was a poser. Couldn´t play an instrument, nor sample or splice, to save his life.
