To try and understand Rush's induction into the Hall, I'm attempting to listen to them all day.

So...if you hear about a suicide in New Orleans...

Be sure to listen to their early stuff from these albums:

RUSH
Fly By Night
Caress Of Steel
2112
All The World's A Stage

Songs like Working Man, Fly By Night, Anthem, Bastille Day, and By-Tor and the Snow Dog are among their best, IMO.

"Working Man" is the only song I liked before this adventure, mainly because the music doesn't sound like Rush.

I've liked two covers so far.

2112 I can listen to that album over and over. But then again I like his voice!

How does he get his voice so high? I wonder, does he talk like an ordinary guy?

Talking

Define "ordinary."

I've watched the documentary about them, and his speaking voice is normal. Canadian, but normal.

Xanadu as well. Subdivisions is hated on, but I like it.

Roll the Bones (except for the title song...which includes a rap part) and Counterparts are both very solid records.

Good luck.. I don't know if I could handle so many monumentally awful lyrics in such a short time

I never got Rush. I got prog overall but Rush is just annoying. They can really play lights out, but the music has absolutely no soul. its like a robot created it.

Thanks. It hasn't gone too well.

I think maybe I just like boobs too much to understand this band.

Co-worker said it's a musician's band. Wasn't John Lord a classically trained musician as well? Ian Gillian/David Coverdale could smoke Geddy Lee like a pack of Kools then probably nail his wife.

It's like they don't understand that part of being legendary is being awesome. It's not about ironically wearing kimonos on stage or writing songs called "The Fountain of Lamneth." It's about notches in bedposts, snorting ants, choking on vomit, and violating groupies with sharks. Being the coolest nerd is like being the tallest midget. They're not wild, they're mild. I bet one of them has an asthma inhaler.

I bet Randy Newman whoops all three of their arses at the induction ceremony. At least he's funny.

I think I'd rather have had Chic get the nomination...AND Nile Rodgers practically invented disco.
