I can't find a single fault with Appetite for Destruction

Simply one of the best Hard Rock albums. Maybe Back in Black comes close or is tied.

my kids are 12 and 13...they love GNR as I have made them listen to "old" music...so they have good taste now...one of them said to me just yesterday..."GNR should have just stopped after AFD"...I though him wise beyond his years..
yes the illusions had some good stuff but they went to shite after AFD.

I have a copy of the original vinyl cover and record framed and hanging in my music room at my house. I've always thought they should reissue the CD with the original cover and add "Shadow Of Your Love" as a bonus track.

Totally disagree. Lies and the UYI albums are great in their own right. I actually love the long epics/ballads. Plus, more mature songwriting.

How about the caliopeesque beginning to sweet child of mine? That riff makes me cringe every time I hear it. Simply awful...... It sounds like two year old with five broken fingers and a broken wrist trying to play a guitar.

UYI aren't has tough as AFD, but they are great too.
GnR and Tyson, the brightest stars in the sky...

For a bunch of snot nose teenagers it's pretty damn good

That's cool!
Wasn't "Lies" recorded before AFD, but released after?

First four tracks were from a previously released EP. I think the second four were recorded in studio for Lies.

I never liked Paradise City, but the rest of the album is perfect.

In 1987 I was a fifteen year old thrash-metal elitist. One glance at the Welcome to the Jungle video and I was like "Pfffft. More Poison Posers."
A week later, I was wearing that album out on cassette.
It was a game-changer, for sure. Even in my exclusive Metallica-Slayer-Megadeth-Anthrax crew, there was no shame in rocking AFD. It was just too cool to pass on.
ETA: If I remember correctly, it was the post-rape chick that kept the original cover from being used.
Panties around her knees was JUST a little outside Tipper Gore's realm of acceptable imagery.

That's how I remember it as well. Brother had that poster hanging in his room for maybe 24 hours before mom ripped it off the wall.
