How shitty is the Varsity's calendar?

Awful
43 total listings
3 LSU watch parties
7 Soccer game watch parties
16 Saints/Monday Night Football watch parties
2 Cover bands
They have American Aquarium tonight
Randy Rogers Band on November 22nd
Then they have other "bands" or whatever the hell you want to call them:
The Bright Light Social Hour w/Black Taxi
Mimosa
Motion City Soundtrack w/Relient K and Driver Friendly
Super Water Sympathy
Bonobo
Zoogma
Baauer w/araabMUSIK and S-Type
Big K.R.I.T.
Ani Defranco
Rusty Yates Band
Then they have 2 "extended guitar solo guy's"
Steve Vai
Tab Benoit
Now, while I cant imagine those bands being good and/or bringing in a crowd, I still cant knock them too much because at least they are bands.
However, to have 43 listings and 28 be non music listings is ridiculous. I'll even give you the OK for the LSU games since it's right outside the gates of campus. that's 60-65% of your listings from now thru fricking January 10th being non musical events.
If that's what they want to do, then whatever but please, quit calling that place a "music venue".
I'm sure they'll add a few more bands though and they'll be wash ups from the 90s or cover bands though that people wont go see.

The soccer parties are at like 9 am and the football parties are on days that concerts shouldn't be on. I agree the music is a little lackluster but you can't blame them for having other events. Sorry they aren't getting your fav BTE.

The fact that soccer parties are in the morning and football parties are on days that concerts shouldn't be on doesn't matter.
The fact that you have events scheduled from now thru almost mid January and over 60% isn't music. That's ridiculous for a "music venue".

You're underestimating the amount of kids around LSU that like edm. I've seen Mimosa/zoogma/and araabmusik all at the varsity before and it was mostly packed, so you're wrong.
ETA and Bonobo is really popular so idk what the hell you're thinking on that

no, im overestimating the clubs ability to book acts. my guess is all those bands are cheap to get which is probably the main reason for coming. I would be most of those bands will play for a smaller check because they'll get "exposure".
The only one listed there is MCS/Relient K who I'd say would bring a decent crowd.
Look, like I said, if that's what they want, then that's fine. I even said I have to give them credit for booking actual bands. My gripe is the fact that 60-65% of the listing on their site aren't even musical acts.
I realize I'll take a lot of shite for posting this because people think The Varsity such a great venue. The Varsity COULD BE a great venue. It's just sad that a city this size really only has The Varsity with nobody else in town to compete with them.

All the ones I listed will have a good crowd. They've played there before to a good crowd.

Again, I have said numerous times that I'm not knocking the booking of actual bands. Even though those aren't my type of bands doesn't mean others don't like them. However, I still think they are booked because they are cheap to get. My gripe is the amount of non musical acts that they have booked.
