Hard to top Vanderlyle as a closer. Love High Violet and it's only the third best National album IMO.

It's their best, by a good bit, imo. Of course I also think angles is the strokes best album hehe

can't fault that, it all comes down to personal preference. i'll always go boxer/alligator 1-2, but they are all great.

According to this, they are working on new material and Matt Berninger says it's "fricking amazing", but it won't come out next year.

ETA: originally forgot the LINK

If you haven't, you should check out Beringer's side project, El Vy, though. It's not quite peak National good, but still plenty enjoyable.

el vy- return to the moon

They're also working on a Grateful Dead cover album with like 30 "indie" artists. The list of contributors is kind of awesome.

The documentary about them that Matt's goofball brother shot is also awesome.

My favorite band for some time now. I'd have to go:
Alligator
Boxer
High Violet

This .

All three are brilliant.

For me, Boxer was one of those albums that hit me at the perfect time. Easily #1 for that reason alone. But High Violet is a great listen.

The National and TV on the Radio are the two bands that never put out less than solid albums.
