Downshift, do you know the story behind that song?
If not, here goes. Vern Gosdin and George Jones were on tour together. They boarded a private plane at 8 in the morning and both fixed a vodka and orange juice. Vern claims he looked at George and said something to the effect.."look at us, it's only 8 in the morning and we're already drinking."
I think it was George who said, I'll bet you $1000 I can quit drinking, then just a couple minutes later looked at Vern and said frick it, it's only $1000 and took a drink.
Then Vern said "we must've been drunk when we said we'd stop drinking." They sat there and wrote the song...

What's there not to like about something like this?
Must've been drunk
That's one of my favorite songs of all time.
And I don't get how someone wouldn't like this.

Drinking and Dreaming - Waylon Jennings
Even if you don't like country music you should like this song and br able to relate to it.

there's a strong strong strong difference between country of the past and modern nashville pop.
There really is very little 'country' music today...just fluffy pop that is crap.

Try some of these:
Chiseled in stone
That's my job
Ghost riders in the sky
God's gonna cut you down
My home's in Alabama
I'm no stranger to the rain
Coward of the county
I'd be better off in a pine box
Just a very small sampling of actual country music

Pop music with fiddles isn't real country music
I hate old country music with a passion
