I am underwhelmed by this matchup. If it's supposed to represent the NYC indie rock scene, can I vote TV on the Radio?

Meh. Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Just to prevent a band as thoroughly mediocre as the Strokes winning unanimity.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Very underwhelming matchup here. Fever To Tell and Show Your Bones are two really good albums. After that...meh.

YYY, and it's not even close for me...though I do like the first Strokes album.

No, but if you started a separate thread on the NYC indie rock scene of the late 90s and early aughts, I think that would be awesome, and I would join in the discussion.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting The Strokes to run away with this. YYYs are the far superior band imho. But what the hell do I know?

i'm a big strokes fan, but i saw them live at Jazz Fest a few years back, and I was pretty disappointed.

I saw them in DC in 2004 at a venue that I think no longer exists. They sucked. They were just going through the motions; they couldn't get off the stage fast enough. Not even a single encore.

I've never seen the YYYs, but I really really want to. As soon as I have anything even loosely resembling a feasible opportunity to see them, I'm there.

Why? The strokes are a far more popular band

Go ask a random person off the street if they know who the yeah yeah yeahs are and I would bet 9/10 wouldn't have a clue.

I like them, but I think the strokes have written better songs and are far more known world wide.

And Nickelback is far more popular than The Strokes.
