Very good group no doubt. Best in the last 35 years? No. Top 10? Not quite. Top 25? Absolutely.

I think theyre the best.

However, how can you not have them at least in your top 10?

They are definitely worthy of strong top 10 consideration. They clearly aren't #1 but now that I think about it they probably are a top 10 group in the last 35 years. I'm a big fan of theirs.

H & O were relevent for around 10 years, late 70's on, don't know why you would think "last 35 years" is definitive.

In the same time period, The Police, INXS, Phil Collins, John Mellencougar, etc, produced the same number of hit songs, and many would consider them better composer/artist/musicians.

If the syrupy, r&b, pop 40 is your thing, maybe Lionel Richie would also fill the bill for you. I mean competing with groups like "The Knack" and Nick Gilder for top 40 am radio space was not exactly a great accomplishment back then.

Decent composers in their own right, sure I would agree, but top studio musicians of the day,, no where near it. I'm not telling you you shouldn't like them just like you're not gonna tell me what to like, but I think you're nuts if you believe anyone around here is gonna consider them as "the top group" for anything like a 3+ decade span of time.

I like Hall & Oates (in fact, they're one of my favorite bands of all time) but "the greatest band of the last 35 years" is too much for me.

Daryl Hall is a talented man and the "Live From Daryl's House" series shows just how talented he is.

Hey, Goat!

Did you compile that list or found something on the net? That's a lot of typing.

They're are a very talented songwriting duo that took the Philly soul sound and made it main stream. Talented group of musicians. RIP TBone
