Lately I've been really partial to Van Morrison and "It's Too Late to Stop Now.". For those who haven't heard it give it a listen. Van Morrison at his absolute best. Backing band was awesome for this tour.

It's Too Late to Stop Now

Also, Elton John's 11-17-70 is just pure rock n'roll. It was recorded before Tumbleweed Connection even came out. It's just a 3 piece band with Elton jamming the keys with a really raw sound. Awesome version of "Honky Tonk Women" and if you listen to one song listen to the "Burn Down the Mission" medley. It really gives you a sense of his piano playing style that I think was lost in some of his later works.

8/17/97 - best set ever

Best full show? Tough call. 12/6/97 , 4.3.98, 12.31.95, and 12.31.99 all contenders

Was just listening this morning. I feel like it almost has to be the choice due to the insane depth.

Both of my choices come from Woodstock, probably the greatest set of performances ever.

Richie Havens - Freedom (live at Woodstock) : one guy dominated the entire crowd

Santana - Soul Sacrifice (live at Woodstock) : this is the epitome of all that live music can be

Another bonus personal favorite while I'm going through my favorite Woodstock moments: Canned Heat - A Change is Gonna Come

My personal favorite is one of Zappa's annual Halloween concerts at The Palladium in New York City.

October 31, 1978.

I said set. Set II (DWD, The Went Gin->Uncle Pen, 2001, Hood) is the best set.

Set I may be the 2nd best set ever after the aforementioned 8.17.97 II. The rest of the show, while above average, doesn't contend with the other heavyweights. I think the jam following Johnny B Goode is overrated.

Wow.

Get 12.6 , 12.7, 11.22, 12.11, 12.29, 12.30, 11.23 immediately. They are all Live Phish releases and spectucular shows.

You always jerk Great Went stuff off

That Gin is criminally overrated. Barely a top 5 version.

I like that Tweezer from that show though. The DwD doesn't stand out in my mind, maybe I need to give a re-listen.
