Holy Wars, but I'm not really a megadeth fan. I think Dave is a lameass and the songs are mostly garbage.

I used to feel the same way, but relistening to them throughout the last 5 years or so has changed my mind. They are not on the same level of Metallica, but they have their moments.

I don't know how you guys can choose just one.
Megadeth is one of those bands where I could easily nominate several songs and just rotate my choice from week to week.
"Peace Sells"
"In My Darkest Hour"
"Holy Wars"
"Tornado of Souls"
"Hangar 18"
"Sweating Bullets"
Metallica clearly produced more "classic" songs, but Megadeth's best can compete with just about anyone in metal.

peace sells. the intro has one of the best sounding bass lines in the history of rock.

These are fair points. Rust in Peace is genius though.
Holy Wars is my favorite too.

It depends on what you like I guess.
Metallica doesn't have the ability to play much of Megadeth's catalog. But James & crew have written some good hooks.
Full disclosure I am #TeamMegadeth.
Compare Mechanix to Four Horsemen

I like Megadeth from way back but don't listen to much of their new stuff.
1 - Holy Wars, The Punishment Due
2 - Devil's Island
3 - Set the World Afire

I like all of countdown to extinction and cryptic writings but train of consequences is awesome. Peace sells was my first album of theirs and I have enjoyed their stuff ever since.

I didn't become a Megadeth fan until I started trying to play a guitar a while back.
If you think Dave is lame, go ahead and try to learn a Megadeth song. Any song. Even the easiest one, which is probably Symphony of Destruction.
Their song writing is literally second to none. Yeah, his voice can make you cringe, but from a talent standpoint, to write 14 albums (and more to come) with songs in that structure....just wow.
Off my soapbox
Favorite Megadeth song is Holy Wars. So many to choose from but that is my go to when I need a lift in general.

Dave is the best guitarist of the thrash era. I think his talent is a bit underrated.

Completely underrated.
How he is not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame already is beyond me.
Dude can shred like nobody's business.
Of course, when you have the likes of Friedman and so many others next to you during your career, it is easy to be overshadowed, but the fact of the matter is he still writes the vast majority of the overall songs.
