Album of the year contender for sure. Recommended for fans of 90s alt rock. Tool is a big fan and took them on tour last year. One of the Failure guys worked with A Perfect Circle too.
Pitchfork
quote:

Just like in 1996, Edwards and Andrews anchor the music in a rich subtext that threads the songs together into a Pink Floyd-ian, almost topographical journey fit for headphones and extended bouts of sitting in your room with the lights off.

quote:

Song after song after song, it's clear that Edwards and Andrews haven't lost their gift for walking the line between cerebral and dark. And it's precisely that charge of intellectual stimulation—spiked with an ever-so-subtle creep factor—that makes The Heart Is a Monster such a thrilling ride.

here's the single
Hot Traveler

I've listened to this a couple times now. My favorites are Mulholland Drive and Counterfeit Sky.

I listened to it all the way through a couple days ago and nothing grabbed me. Fantastic Planet was a great album, but I haven't really enjoyed much of their stuff other than that.

Fantastic Planet is a better album but I'll take this new one over modern indie rock. Just has that 90s feel to it that I like.

Just listened to the new single, "Hot Traveler"...sounds like Failure. At the same time, it has nothing redeeming about it. I mean...what is so great about this single?

Anybody going to the show tonight?

I'm excited to see this band finally. Another check off my bucket list... If only faith no more would make a New Orleans stop!

I really wanted to go, but cannot. Please let me know how it went.

Fantastic Planet will always be in my top 10 albums.

Please don't tell me Failure is playing in N.O. tonight. I sure would have been there if that's the case and I had known.

Fuuuuuuck I can't believe I missed this. How much of Fantastic Planet did they play? It's still in rotation for me, such an unique sound. Daylight, Smoking Umbrellas, Saturday Saviour

DS2 highly overrated.
8.4 BNM on P4K, that was kinda funny.
Future's sound gets old fast.

Just finished watching Failure in Atlanta, they killed it. Finished with Heliotropic. Wish they would have played Daylight, but nevertheless awesome show.

Now the goal is to not get too drunk, HUM plays at midnight!!!!!!!
