re: Electronic Music Thread

I saw Skrillex at Hangout. Now I'm no huge live EDM fan, but I found his set to be extremely annoying in the way he would just stop the music and start talking and then restart the music without any continuity. It completely killed the mood. He did it over and over and over. It was awful.

I was also really surprised that Skrillex and Diplo (as Major Lazer), out of the jillions of songs that could be sampled, both sampled like 3 songs in common in their sets.

I didn't actually see the Jack U set, but they each did back to back sets (Skrillex at Hangout stage, then Major Lazer at Boom Boom Tent). Like I said, they didn't even sample that many songs, but they sampled three of the SAME songs: Kendrick Lamar M.a.a.d. city and two others of the same song that I can't remember now (Maybe Welcome to Jam Rock? and some song a chick sang). Anyway, it was just head scratching and wasn't a real argument for the creativity of these DJs.

I did freaking LOVE the "Wild for the Night" section of Skrillex's set, though.
