Maybe 20 years ago.

But Devin Townsend, Mike Patton, Darroh Sudderth, and many others say otherwise.

CC has a great voice, no doubt. But I'd say that Maynard James Keenan can more than hold his own against anyone. Anyone!

I know you like Tool and all, but this statement is just dumb. I was dragged to watch Tool last January in Grand Prairie, TX and it was so much meh.

If your into the genre, the band... its a perfect show setting/atmosphere. It really goes with the music.

The statement however

is a bit much. Everyone has their taste as we all know.
It certainly ranks very high though!

He's one of many great singers. Neither is the end all, be all vocalist.

I agree. But I have to think like this...we wouldn't have Rosetta Stoned if it weren't for the 10,000 Days album.

It might not be Tool's greatest album as a whole, but it contains their best work to date.

Therein lies the paradox.

Maybe I can ingest 5 grams of psilocybin and find it interesting. Their music, as a whole, is pretty boring to me past Undertow.

However, while Tool is getting better with time, I don't have the same opinion of the Deftones. And that's sad because Adrenaline is one of my all time favorite albums. It fricking rocks.

I feel like you are the only person on Earth that has listened to the albums and will still say this.

I missed this, but I cannot disagree any more. Audioslave was mediocre as hell. I remember hearing the original Civilian demos and being really excited about the band. Then I bought the album and realized that it was just another forced super group with no musical chemistry.

I guess I'm the only person.

I'm sticking to my guns. Adrenaline great. Everything beyond that...not nearly as great.

Not a terrible statement. I agree that Adrenaline is heads and shoulders above.

My thoughts exactly.

I love steak. I love chocolate. But putting the 2 together doesn't mean it's going to be the best thing ever that I put into my mouth.

That's how I feel Audioslave was. Rage's sound = awesome. Cornell's voice = awesome. The 2 together = shite.

Pretty much sums up my sentiment.

Also, it looks like someone else agrees that Adrenaline is the best Deftones album.

There are now two people in the world who believe that.

Adrenaline was great, but I thought around the fur topped it with the more focused songwriting and melody.

Adrenaline is the reason why people got excited about the Deftones. They never really expanded on that style. They switched gears and became a softer version of themselves. Personally, I didn't like that. I appreciated them more for their energy on Adrenaline.

This is the same argument that Red Hot Chili Peppers' fans have with each other. Some people only like everything from before One Hot Minute.

Others appreciate One Hot Minute as a classic Chili Peppers album and believe that it doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Other simply like anything the Chili Peppers release and believe the band can do no wrong.

We're having the classic Chili Peppers debate with the Deftones. I'm not a fan of their work post-Adrenaline.

To be honest...Incubus did the same thing. They went softer to become more radio friendly. While that makes more financial sense, it doesn't mean that they got better.

The difference between their earlier and later albums is incredibly vast! I prefer their early work.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E was brilliant. Enjoy Incubus may be even better.

Their later stuff just doesn't please me.
