Def Leppard has to one of the biggest let downs in rock history! They came out smoking hot with three killer album's, On through the night, High n dry, Pyromania and hell even Hysteria was good. But my god after that each album sucked worse than the one before. Haven't listened to any new stuff in years and my brother told me they put out an albumn in late 15 so I checked it out online. My God they are bad, worse than I ever could have imagined. What a freaking waste! My little bro was right when he said that band died the day Steve Clark passed away.

Great rock and roll album. For me, that was their pinnacle. How did that band record Pour Some Sugar On Me? I mean I know why they did it, but shite, c'mon guys.

they were well on their way to what they are now before clark passed.
a shame because they've got one of most fiery guitarist to come out of the hard rock/metal era of the 80's.

Great rock and roll album.

Agree. Thought they might be a feature in the new wave of metal. I was pretty disappointed in the direction they went afterward though.

Hard to believe Vivian Cambell left Dio and joined Def Leppard. From what little I've read about it, I don't think Ronnie James Dio ever forgave him for it. There was definitely some long term animosity because of it.

No Mutt Lange and a one armed drummer. I don't say that to make light of the accident, rather when he lost that arm, the entire sound of the band was changed. They went from being a band where the drummer was literally the best musician and the songs were driven in an almost Zepp fashion, to a band that depended on a drum machine and computer generated sounds to make music.

Very sad deal.

I ALWAYS hated Def Leppard. Just funny you post this today. I was out last night and a cover band played Pour Some Sugar on Me, and I texted a buddy "God Def Leppard sux"

Pyromania even to me was just early 80's background noise. Uggh.

High and Dry was different. Pyromania signaled the downfall.

Pretty disappointed would be an understatement lol. Man to me it is such a shame and a waste of what could have been had they stayed with that solid rock formula of wall to wall heavy guitars. High n dry still kicks arse! By for and away their very best.

Pyromania made me kind of look at them sideways but I didn't hate that album. Then Hysteria came out and I knew they were off my radar for good.

It still blows my mind that so many people actually claim to like Hysteria and the subsequent crap after it. Absolutely awful stuff. I thought I was alone in that opinion till Martin Popoff came out with his Collector's Guide To Heavy Metal, which is somewhat of a misnomer as it mostly deals with just loud guitar rock in general. He absolutely trashed Hysteria (and the album after it); gave them both a rating of 0/10, which is kind of rare for him. I agree with everything he says about it.

Blows your mind? Awful? Please. Both Pyromania and Hysteria are incredible - with the edge going to Hysteria.

Well, that whole genre kind of collapsed soon after Hysteria so don't blame Def Leppard for that.

I have no idea what anybody gets out of that album. It's offensively bad. "Pour Some Sugar" might be the stupidest rock anthem ever written, with the main competition for that coming from other DL stuff like "Make Love Like A Man" or "Let's Get Rocked". There's a hilarious interview somewhere on the internet where Elliot is asked to explain what the frick he's talking about and he says "I haven't a clue." Yeah? Sounds about right.

Def Leppard was bro rock before there was bro country.

I have no idea how somebody could not get anything out of it. It's objectively great. One of the deeper cuts, "Gods of War", which was never a single is great.

I applaud Joe Elliot for not pretending rock lyrics are deep and/or meaningful.
