I thought it was pretty catchy, but I don't think that's what anyone wants from a "Pink Floyd" tune.

Didn't like the song, but the guitar delivers. As expected.

Sometimes I think Gilmour's music never left the 80's. It just sounds so dated and cheesy. Like, Don Henley cheesy.

I'm just gonna say it one more time, Richard Wright drove Pink Floyd.

Eh, I'm not a combatant in the RW/DG war, I just like the music and Richard Wright is the one constant that endures.

Nick mason is the only member in the band from beginning to end..........just sayin. The last decent release by RW was 30+ years ago. DG's was just a few years ago.

I always thought Richard Wright looked just like Syd Barrett.

Speaking of Roger Waters, he performed a new song supposedly from his upcoming album at a benefit gig the other day. Here's an audience recording of it...

I disagree. I do think that a combination of Waters and Gilmour "drove" the music forward, overall, giving it life, purpose, etc.

But Rick was the soul - his songs are timeless, by the way. Us and Them, Great Gig in the Sky (with all due respect to Ms. Torry), and his collaboration with Gilmour for the music for Breathe? That's more important than Waters' contribution to the album, if you ask me.

Being in Pink Floyd, his vocals are underrated, as well, but Wright was the best backing/harmony vocalist of the 3, and, probably would have been a more competent lead vocalist than Waters (even when Waters was in his prime). The fact that none of his lead vocal performances was ever on a hit song for Floyd is of no moment.

And, musically, for that matter, his touch on the keys for DSOM is the difference between it being merely a hit album and being a transcendent one.

Agreed, and the forgotten guy due to the DG/RW ego pillow fight.

"On an Island" from Gilmour was some of his best work...including Pink Floyd.

Generic rock-would not have known it was Gilmour if I hadn't read/seen the youtube clip.

Dude is a great guitarist and a really good singer, but he's not much of a songwriter. The song is pedestrian as hell, and the production is really flat. It seems like the song was supposed to be bass-driven, but Roger left him with such a hatred of bassists that he took all the arse out of the bass track.

Much, much better than the Gilmour song. Sounds like a lost track from the Final Cut.
