Has anybody seen David Allen Coe lately? Looking at maybe booking him in Jackson Hole. I've heard mixed reviews.

There are some youtubes of fairly recent performances. You can at least see if he's what you're looking for. What venue in JH? I've spent a bit of time there off and on.

Old and mean. That's about all I remember from drinking so much

Don't go expecting to hear his all his hits. He plays what he feels like, how he feels like playing them.
Last time I saw him he started the show by playing about 15 Waylon songs in 5 minutes. He'd sing one verse and the chorus and go right into the next one. The band had hell trying to keep up with him.
Then he sang a few Pantera songs, some Kid Rock songs, a few of his, rapped a little bit, and then played some hippie music with his hippie wife/gf-janis joplin looking woman dancing around the stage with a tambourine.
I was entertained by the show, but was forewarned on what to expect. You'll probably hear Jack Daniels and If That Ain't Country, but the rest is a tossup.
If he isn't feeling it that night, he may play 7 or 8 songs and walk off.
They'll also be a lot of old rednecks and biker types there.

Whoa. It was all believable up until there.

It was a very strange crowd the couple shows I went to. Mix of frat boys, goths, bikers, old hippies, old rednecks, white trash, and some cowboys. Almost worth the $15 or so just for the people watching.

He's pretty hit or miss these days. All depends on his mood and how much he has lost at the nearest casino.

Saw him about 3 years ago and there was no "melody" left in Jody like a Melody. I'd rather listen to his cd than pay money to see him again. And I consider myself a DAC fan.

Step lightly. I ended up seeing his name on the marquee at a seedy roadside bar where I live a couple of years ago. Ended up cancelling the performance. He was also supposed to play some frat party. Cancelled that. frick that guy.
