I have always liked this song by The Cure, but was amazed when I heard this remake of a slowed down version.

The Cure - Just Like Heaven

Remake -

Katie Melua - Just Like Heaven

I generally am not fond of remakes, but when someone can recreate the song in a different style and do a good job, I'm impressed.

This is an amazing interpretation of a Metal classic...this, IMO is how you pay true homage to a great song, with a complete re-imaging:

Iron Maiden original "Number of the Beast"

Zwan: Number of the Beast

Anything Chris Cornell decides to sing. He's today's Frank Sinatra. He owns a song once he sings it.

Gotta throw this one out:

Hurt - NIN

Hurt - Johnny Cash (cover)

I read that Trent Reznor was thinking it was a prank when Johnny Cash called him to ask his permission.

What an honor for him, huh? Not just for JC to cover a song he penned, but to call personally and ask?

The Man in Black

And now for something...completely different:

Tom Jones covers Prince: Kiss

I actually like Johnny Cash's version of Hurt better.

Not a different style, but I also like the Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer duet version of Bob Marley's Redemption Song.

I've always loved Clapton's reinterpretation of Layla.

I always laugh at swing/lounge remakes. This one is somewhat acceptable.
Kurt Elling "Stepping Out."
Joe Jackson "Stepping Out."

I wonder what y'all think about the Limp Bizkit remake of George Michael Faith.

I thought the Counting Crows version of Big Yellow Taxi was a disgrace, capped off by the bop, bop, bop in the background.

I like this version better.

But if you prefer extremely different cover versions, you gotta go with white pop singers doing rap classics. Like this.

Johnny Cash- Hurt

Probably one of the best covers I've ever heard.

Cover I really want to hear is Arcade Fire covering Sliver by Nirvana.

the lyrics are right up their alley, Suburban angst. I feel like they could do a cool cove of it.
