Has anyone just gone to see an opening act?

Feb 2011 I went to One Eyed Jacks to see The Head and the Heart open for The Walkmen, but didn't stay for The Walkmen (I know I know...judge away). They took forever to come on, and I really only wanted to see TH&TH.

Anyone else do this?

several times

most recently - Lucero opening for Shooter Jennings

Dave Matthews opening for Blues Traveler
Guns and Roses opening for INXS

the last two obviously a long time ago. And I remember both headlining bands being very good even though I didn't go to see them. Shooter sucked though.

Went to the Saenger to see Guster open for John Mayer. Left afterwards.

John Mayer's okay, but Guster is one of my favorite bands and I needed to drive back to BR because I had class the next morning.

The Cult open for Metallica in '89. I only went to see The Cult. We had were going leave after teh Cult set and race over town and see a local band play.Ian was so drunk he couldn't finish some songs. We all got pissed and stayed to see Metallic.....They blew the Cult away. Metallica was just awesome.

a few months later the Cult went on a headline tour and redeemed themselves

Music as a Weapon Tour in 08 or 09. Disturbed was headlining and I went only for Killswitch Engage.

On a related note, holy shite, Disturbed sucks.

Ramones before Tom Tom Club 1990
Slayer before Slipknot 2000
I can't remember if these tours technically had "opening acts" or if they switched off from date to date. At any rate I left before the headliner both times. After Slayer played hordes of people chanted "SLIPKNOT SUCKS" as they made their way to the door.

Same but I also wanted to see Chimaira again.

I was equally excited to see Meshuggah open for Tool in 2002. It was my first time seeing both bands. They were equally good.

I went to see Goodie Mob because B.o.B was opening up for them. But then once I saw that Cee Lo was no more than 9 inches tall, I was all-in. How could that voice be coming out of a man that tiny? It was crazy to see. Dude is seriously small.

I let some friends drag me to see Boston headline at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in 1977. The opening act was some crap band called Starcastle. The act I went to see was Nils Lofgren. My friends agreed that he stole the show.

Boston fricked up the intro to More Than a Feeling, stopped and restarted the song. When they came out for the obligatory encore guess what song they played? Yep, More Than a Feeling.

Yep caught them in Austin and Houston.

Didn't Bonham open for that show?
