Concert at Red Rocks
Posted by CHiPs25 on 3/29/15 at 10:56 pm00
I'm thinking about going out to Red Rocks this year for a WSMFP run at the end of June. Are there hotels close to Red Rocks or is camping the right way to go?

I mean Denver is pretty damn close to Morrison/Golden, which is where Red Rocks is.
I stayed in Breckenridge then went to a show there, that was a pretty good drive. I'd just look for something in Denver if you'll go with the hotel. It's only about 10 miles from there.
If you're going to be camping there, hurry up and reserve a spot.
But by all means go to a show there, it's an amazing venue.

Hire a private driver for your group. 6 to a suburban. Set pickup and drop off points/times. There's hotels around Denver West, and Golden of course.

I'm going to denver April 3-11. No shows at red rocks. Any other places to check out?
its a long drive from red rocks to denver, especially if you are fricked up.
The hotel/camping situation near red rocks is pretty shitty too.
your best bet is to get a hotel near a bar that has an after show and a party bus. The Gothic or cervantes are the most likely choices, but sometimes you see them for the ogden. This will run you about $20pp.
If you decide to do a private driver, expect to pay about $60-80 each way. If you have your driver wait, it will cost a lot more. eta: there will be uber en masse there after shows for this purpose. But it can take some time to catch some, and they will charge you for the wait time getting out of red rocks.
There is no public transportation to red rocks.

Other concert venues to check their schedule: Ogden Theater, Gothic Theater, Bluebird Theater, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom/Other Side, Summit Music Hall, Fillmore Auditorium, Marquis Theater, Paramount Theater.
Then there's of course bars around town that have smaller acts on weekends.
ETA: North Mississippi Allstars/Anders Osborn at Ogden Theater on the 10th.

if you like beer, then there are a ton of new breweries around central downtown - renegade is my favorite but also like river north and epic.

There is a plethora if party buses you could sign up for. A quick Google search would suffice.
This. Party buses are probably the way to go. There should be lots of them for WSP.
Denver West Marriott (there are 2 Marriott's near Golden, but this is the spot).
It's very convenient to RR, there is a massive liquor store across the interstate, and a mall not too far for grub etc.
And the pool gets rockin' that weekend.

The NMO (North Mississippi Allstars and Anders Osborne) at the Ogden on the 10th should be an outstanding show. I'm going to check it out.

Chief Hosa campground ruled when I was in college. Not sure if I would like it now and my understanding is that they closed it down

Is uber an option?

Headed there for Disco Biscuits in a few weeks. I am also wondering if Uber is a good option to and from Red Rocks.

Uber is good to get there no problems, risky to put your hopes on getting back.
We use a private Suburban driver sometimes when we have a smaller group. A Dandy One Limousine is the company we use. About $150 round trip, prepaid, split 6 or 7 ways.
Party buses are also fun. A relatively full bus runs about $20-25/person round trip. Depends if the bus sits there all night until you leave (which allows you to tailgate at the bus), or if it's just a drop off/pickup package. You prepay for a certain amount of time, they can and will charge you more if you go over your prepaid time, they charge by the 15 or 30 minute increment extra.
