Maybe, but certainly not because of that.

Terrible. Most overrated band ever. Even more so than Radiohead.

I grew up in the 70s/80s in Central Arkansas. I was absolutely raised on classic rock and loved it. Was really huge into it. Eventually I tired of it, though.

I'm realizing, now, though, that my sons have a huge hole in their musical knowledge due to my current distaste for classic rock. They're more able to identify Arcade Fire or The White Stripes than Led Zeppelin. So... I've started swallowing my aversion and giving them a proper musical education.

I'm not going to be hitting them with Foreigner and Journey and crap like that, but they're going to get a healthy dose of Floyd, Zeppelin, etc..

frick you Classic rock stations! You have made me despise the music of my youth.

Don't disagree with this. Music that was rarely, if ever, played on the radio during the bands' prime is now being played to death on classic rock radio station. I actually despise 98.1 for this reason. Regardless, classic rock>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>rap.

The original by The Band, or the cover by the communist Joan Baez?

Yeah, they must be really terrible selling out venues at their advanced age.

How again are the Rolling Stones overrated? They're selling out shows after 50 years in the business. I do think it may be time for them to retire, though.

What does selling out have to do with overrated? You realize being overrated can involve a thing that is highly rated, right?

TO me it is not the bands, it is the overplaying. All of the bands mentioned have their moments IMO, but I can't abide hearing Stairway To Heaven again, that song is ruined for me for example. I just can't tolerate the classic rock stations as they currently exist and they are the same south to north and east to west.

that's the problem. They are corporately owned and programmed They play the same songs over and over, because survey's show that's what people want to hear. To me it's like starting an ice cream company and only selling vanilla because that's the most popular.

Pretty much anything I consider "mullet rock." Foreigner, Journey, Boston, Def Leppard, etc. If you can picture a dude in a T-Top Trans Am rocking out to it while sporting his standard issue wife beater and gold chain, I pretty much can't fricking stand it.
