In light of his recent CMA awards, why do you think the critics finally got it "right" with Chris Stapelton? Granted, he's not really country but he's more country than most of the stuff being played on country radio.

Come on man, the guy is a blues singer. The material may be country but the treatment isn't really country. Would love to hear him sing some Brothers stuff.

Clearly, he is heavily influenced by blues, rock, etc. in how he sings and his style of play. I would rather say that he is not solely a country artist, but a country artist nonetheless. That is what appealed to me the first time I heard his music.

He has written a ton of country songs and that is why he is so respected in Nashville, but it is the power of his voice that really catches your attention.
