I'm going with Foo Fighters.

The FF song is not called "Learning to Fly" BTW.

But I agree that it's the better song out of all these.

I wasn't trying to compare the two songs and realize they're completely different songs. The only reason I brought them up is because the name of the two songs.

Although I got your point, this was bound to result in this controversy.

It's like if I started a thread saying, "Best version of Photograph: Def Leppard, Ringo Starr or Nickelback" - now, obviously, that one is Def Leppard (<-Ace Midnight's favorite song) - but it would imply those are the same compositions by different artists.

"Better song with the same name:" - might have been the way to go here - clear, unambiguous and you might have more content discussion, rather than semantics.

For my own opinion - I like both of these songs, but lean towards Pink Floyd - both can be considered "later career" hit songs by both artists.

Speaking of Foo Fighters and Tom Petty, if you've ever heard "Wheels", it's pretty obvious FF completely ripped off "Learning to Fly".

Now that you mention it, Wheels is a better version of Learning to Fly than Tom Petty's and Pink Floyd's also.

Thanks for the reminder.
