I pray to God that the premise behind this thread is a fricking joke!!!! The words best and nickelback never belong in the same phrase or sentence.

Leader of men is not that bad, but it's from before they were really famous.

I'll answer this in the same manner that people were defending blink yesterday:

Are the talented musicians? No.
Are their lyrics painfully simplistic and appealing to the lowest common denominator of our culture? Yes.
Is there music simple? Yes.
Are they a good live act? No.
Has anyone ever bought an album of theirs after their fifteenth birthday? Probably not.
Is the music just bad? Obviously.

But what matters is that they are a really good band.

So you only like music from talented musicians? That is a limited pool.

Fill us in on who you like. I doubt you will be honest.

Again, you must have very limited tastes.

Are they a good live act?

So you spent money to go watch a band you don't like?

Has anyone ever bought an album of theirs after their fifteenth birthday?

This is stupid even as hyperbole

Your post is more lemming like than Nickelback followers.

Personally, I don't care for music. It seems like a childish thing to waste time and money on.

I was just poking fun at the rhetorical method used to defend blink 182 yesterday.

Trolls gotta eat too bro. Sorry I just thought this was a pretty funny endorsement so I thought I'd make fun of it:
quote:

Were they extremely talented? A case could be made for travis but over all no. Were they a good band live? Not really. Did they have complex structure or lyrics? Nope. But they were very fun and they tapped into both adolescent through early 30's demographics and got everyone singing and partying at their shows. The albums were brilliantly and flawlessly produced and engineered and captured that little bit of angst that everyone has somewhere inside them while blending punk enough with pop for the radio.

You really shouldn't comment on music.

Fair enough but I wasn't really commenting on music. I was commenting on the argument. It was essentially "it wasn't good in any real way but kids liked it so it was good."

King Robert actually made a more sound argument (I still didn't agree but it was a better argument). Since his argument was well thought out, nobody made fun of it. See?
