Bill Bruford's band at Ole Man rivers in 1980. Such great musicians.

Yeah I'm old.

My first concert was Eric Clapton at City Park touring for 461 Ocean Blvd.

I was about 15 or so.

-Anyone living in the Bay Area in the 70's will remember the Day On The Green concerts...Really didn't matter who was playing they were all memorable....

-Big Country (with Stuart Adamson) was as good a live band as I ever saw...

-1976 Oakland Col., Earth Wind and Fire with David Copperfield doing magic during the show was wild.....

-1977 Tower of Power playing on the back stage of the Old Sportsman Club in Oakland with Linda Tillery sitting in on percussion was the greatest music I ever heard live....

-Most memorable by far, Rufus and Chaka Khan playing at the long gone Circle Star Theater in San Carlos...Chaka was completely wasted, staggered up the stairs to the revolving stage, lost her balance and fell backwards, arse over tea kettle right in front of us...Her dress went up over her head and she was wearing nothing underneath...Laughed so hard as she lay there like a turtle on its back, with her loins laying there in front of God and Country.....

Springsteen....in the 80's he did four-hour shows.

I saw him a few years ago and the show was just as good, but 'only' hours and 25 minutes.

Modest Mouse. Oklahoma City summer of 2002. Isaac Brock just starts slicing his forearm open with a pocket knife on stage. It was one of the strangest nights. The venue was this weird honky tonk line dancing type place, and it was hot as frick in there. Brock was constantly yelling at the manager. They completely destroyed that set though, and I've never forgotten that night.

Also, Elliott Smith a few months before his death. He was drunk as hell and so gone on stage just rambling, but when he started playing he was perfect. I remember he was wearing a willie nelson tshirt and just slamming whiskey out of a dixie cup. Not really a rock show but a memorable experience and one I almost didnt go to.

Tom Waits at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago in 2006 I think. It was theatrical and fantastic.

Oh and radiohead at the Greek theater in Berkeley, CA 2006. I generally despise outdoor venues, but the Greek is gorgeous and that night the fog was rolling in. It was perfect.

I'm a veteran of at least 15 of them.
