You can't wash away all your pain
With your dirty wine and cheap champagne
You're just dancing for the lonely

I've got Box of Rain which is a book of his basically all the songs he wrote. He puts some info on there about what inspired it, or what the song is about, or just a little story to go along with it. Very cool stuff.

Rap is a landfill
Drop the anvil
These are shoes that you can't fill
Shite the day that happens
The world will stop spinning
And Michael J Fox will come to a stand still.

That's my #2 of his openers. #1 is Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're trying to be so quiet.

When talking Bob Dylan I think my favorite is Idiot Wind.

That whole song is chalk full of gold.

"You're and idiot babe its a wonder that you still know how to breathe."

Blood on the tracks on a cassette with my dad driving through Colorado for my first backpacking trip at age 10 is when I turned from listening to kids music to becoming a huge Dylan, Zeppelin, Dead, Petty, Allman fan. I asked my dad to play the tape again after it was over and I think he almost cried. We saw Allman Brothers a month later, then Santana a few months after that.

Life... Changed.

Is a dream a lie if it doesn't come true, or is it something worse?

I'm jealous of your childhood. I WILL do this with my kids.

The high black water, the devils daughter
She's hard she's cold and she's mean
But nobody taught her, it takes a lot of water
To wash away New Orleans. RIP Levon

I was a bayman like my father was before
Can't make a living as a bayman anymore
There ain't much future for a man who works the sea
But there ain't no island left for islanders like me

Closing time and opening bands
Different town, same old one night stands
Another midnight noose in cowboy boots with x's on her hands
Closing time and opening bands

I fricking love that song. BJ's a great lyricist.

I saw them 4 times last week, I might need an intervention

Interventions are only for unhealthy addictions... Z

Time - Pink Floyd. Pick any two lines.

"The Wall" by Kansas is up there for me.

quote:

I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little
more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between,
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty, towering, marking
off the boundaries my spirit would erase

He's always talking about girls killing him, so I figured it was noose, but I don't know.

Katherine Belle is awesome, too

She comes busting through like a hurricane at midnight
She comes busting through like she bought the place
She was just a wolf in thrift-store clothing
Till that sheepish smile ran over her face
She stood up and said "which one of you boys,
Which one of you boys is buying my drink"
She started cussing like a backrow Baptist,
I started wondering what my mama would think
