Original Gov't Mule lineup was a force to be reckoned with.

Was coming in to add this one to the list but you got it with the first post.

Also as far as best - I would go with Hendrix and it would be either one of Experience/Band of Gypsies even thought the band of gypsies album is my favorite.

Oysterhead and John Butler Trio are two other lesser known ones that I would agree with.

One I don't see mentioned... John Mayer Trio.

Pino Palladino, Steve Jordan and JM. That is a ridiculous amount of talent.

Thin Lizzy was a 4 piece - 2 guitars, bass and drums
Jeff Beck Group was usually more than 3, I don't know if they were ever 3. Beck, lead singer, drums and bass at a minimum and at times added a keyboard player.

Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush were phenomenal in the 70's. So much talent in that power trio. My favorite all time guitarist.

Frank Marino--Guitars
Paul Harwood--Bass
Jimmy Ayoub--Drums

Johnny B. Goode---Live

I read today that the very first studio session Gov't Mule recorded down in Florida in 94 (I believe) is soon being released for the first time ever. It's being digitally remastered at the moment. I'm ready to give that a listen...

You put fricking Greenday and Grohl above Neil Peart? Are you serious?

Every single drummer on that list would argue with you themselves that Peart is a better drummer.

Agreed. Would Elvis, Scotty, and Bill count? Not the best but top 10 maybe.
