I'm not sure how popular Beirut is here, but IMO they are one of the best bands to enter the music scene in the last 10 years. They are incredible live. I'm a sucker for brass in a live setting, so that's probably why I like them so much. It's hard to describe their music or compare them to someone else. Instrumentation includes trumpets, ukulele, drums, guitar, keyboard, upright bass, accordian.
Anyway, here's an article on the new album: LINK
And here's a link to the new single: LINK
Here's a couple of my favorite songs by them.
The Shrew
Nantes
Gulag Orkestar

Good share. I heard about this on XM and had been meaning to check it out. The new single sounds good, and like that review says, does seem a little simpler than previous records.
Nantes was the song that got me hooked on Beirut.
Maybe a Grizzly Bear comparison? Mainly because each song is a full composition with multiple instruments? Seems much more thought out than most current music.
Also seems like Beirut doesn't like traveling to the South too much, so I haven't had a chance to catch them live. Where'd you see them?

I've seen them in Austin twice, in their 2011 and 2012 tour. I was surprised to not see Austin on the schedule for this tour, but I'm sure they'll add more dates.

saw them at a festival a few years ago and was impressed, never bothered to check them out again though.

First time exploring this band, they are really good. Reminds me of a Wes Anderson movie mixed with a rich couple who tours the world with zero worries. No, I'm not stoned

I am digging the new song. I'm not a huge fan of No No No.

New album is out! I've listened a few times and like it. I'm not sure where it stands though. It may be my least favorite...it seems comparable to how Carrie and Lowell was to the rest of Sufjan's catalog. This is just very scaled back, but the songwriting is really good.
Perth is a great song. LINK

Extremely let down by the album...perhaps my expectations were too high.
