You might look into Helmet since they (along with Tool) were an influence on Chevelle.
Depends on what you like about those two bands. Personally I like the soft vocals (with occasional screaming) combined with heavy music. I also like odd time signatures and dark lyrics.
Mudvayne, Deftones, Breaking Benjamin, Nine Inch Nails have some, but not all, of those attributes. Maybe A Perfect Circle.

Chevelle and Tool couldn't be more different other than the fact the singer from Chevelle sounds a little bit like Maynard

But it's easy to see why one would enjoy both

I'm not even a big Tool fan, but you need to go ahead and change the title because Chevelle's derivative asses don't belong in the same sentence as Tool

Chevelle fans should like this song, because it's the song they blatantly ripped off on Send the Pain Below:
Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)

The OP said Chevelle or Tool. Not Chevelle and Tool.

Balance & Composure
If you like fuzz rock with piano added in for good measure, try Crash Kings.
