Gene Clark "She's the Kind of Girl"

It's the first song I play whenever I upgrade something in my system. It just sounds perfect to me.

Give all the contacts a good cleaning with deoxit

This is going to sound stupid, but what exactly are the contacts? So I know I'm cleaning the right thing. If you have a picture that would be extremely helpful.

I know what and where the potentiometers (pots) are and where they are located so I'm good on that end. tia.

Contacts are the RCA jacks.

Is it safe to spray contact cleaner directly into the rca inputs, or is it best to add the cleaner to a q-tip instead and work it in and around like that until clean?

Also, are there some rca connectors you'd recommend, as the ones that came with my dual tt are likely pretty old? Keeping in mind I have a very modest setup.

In other news, I just purchased some klipsch kg4's and they are just lovely. Been listening to Ike Quebec all day picking up new details. Sadly, I can't really let them sing because of where I live and neighbors.

Use a pipe cleaner with the solution on it. However, you shouldn't do any damage if you spray directly in--lightly. It is just a solder joint on the other side of the panel on the back side of the RCA plug. Pull the cover off and you can actually see what you are doing while you do it.

On the one I bought for my gf(which opened me up to vinyl), it was Second Hand News by Fleetwood Mac.

The first song that I listened to on the turntable that I bought for myself was Dancing With the Moonlight Night by Genesis.

I am posting pics of the backside of the covers of the 2 Test LPs I posted above. Read all the info on the covers--it will explain all the tests better than I can.

Also note that some of these sounds, tones, and sweeps do actually require some testing equipment, such as an oscilloscope, or as I posted pics of a page or two ago, an azimuth device such as the Fozgometer.

There is also a third Test LP that I found in the closet by the British magazine, Hi-Fi News, that I will post pics of the front and rear covers of below.

Analogue Productions LP...

Cardas Audio Sweep and Burn In LP...

And Hi-Fi News LP...

The uses of these should make a little bit of sense when you read the full descriptions on the back covers...hope it helps.

If they are too difficult to read, let me know and I will retake the pic and post them again.

Cleaned everything, and still experiencing the same issue. Have used a preamp plugged into the aux input for a temporary solution until I figure out what I want to do. Works for the short term.

Check the 4 headshell leads that connect to the cartridge too...make sure they are tightly fitted.

Will do. But I would think I'd experience the same issue with the preamp (and so far so good) if it were related to the actual turntable correct?

City and Colour "The Hurry and the Harm"
Got to see Dallas Green and his City and Colour project last month at the House of Blues in N.O. Great show and great songwriter. Love all of his albums, they sound soooo good on vinyl.

I bought Daft Punk Discovery off of Amazon. When I played it for the first time tonight, sides A and B are both pressed with side A. I'm about to initiate an Amazon return, but how common is this?

I can't say for sure, but I feel like I hear of double A side pressings of records quite often. The good thing is that Amazon's return customer service is incredible.

Never encountered this myself, but Amazon is very easy to deal with on returns.
