I am looking forward to the new Nude Beach that comes out on Tuesday... I pre-ordered so hopefully it gets here then..

Also contemplating buying White Zombie's "Soul-Crusher" on vinyl, but I don't think I'm prepared to dole out that kinda cash..

Hey man, I don't know why but I am getting tons of distortion on my All Things Must Pass LP. Really the only record I am getting any distortion on right now. Brand new cartridge with no issues on any other albums. It's an original pressing so could just be worn out, but if that's not the issue, got any recommendations? There are no visible scratches on the album.

It doesn't have to have visible scratches to be a bad LP. If the original owner had a Sears & Roebuck record player, the $1 needle (probably worse than a thumbtack), may have destroyed the inner grooves. This usually happens when I inherit someone's old uncle"s vinyl collection and almost all of the LPs are shot. You will notice immediately--they sound like crap. Throw them away--no amount of cleaning or chemicals can revive them.

If it's just deep grime, however, the wood glue trick may help. I recently picked up a Paul Simon record in a pawn shop that, though it looked okay, was practically unlistenable. I gave it the wood glue treatment and it really helped a lot. First time I had tried it and I was extremely skeptical but I recommend giving it a shot.

Holy crap, that was my exact order from Matador when I got the new album from the Pornos. I figured I might as well pick up my favorite album of theirs on vinyl as well.

If you live in North Dallas, a new record store is opening this weekend. Josey Records is having their grand opening, located on Josey Road and 635. Supposed to be a large, big box store, but only selling records.

Kind've a "pop" version of Good Records. Since it's sort of a pain to get to Greenville for me, I'm looking forward to this.

Thanks for the heads up, I will be checking it out for sure. I went to the new place in deep Ellum "Off The Record". Cool place but a small inventory because it's brand new, it's essentially a bar that sells records. A lot of people come sell used records there. They bought most of their inventory from Good Records so I'm sticking with them for now

Damn it's telling me it could be 1 to 2 weeks before I can sign up. Does it always do that to make it look like they are in high demand or exclusive or something?

I'm not sure on the exact reasoning but I do know I read on reddit that they only repress a specific amount of vinyl so the sign-up-and-wait is to make sure (1) that they have enough for the amount of orders and (2) that someone's not just trying to sign up for the one record and then drop out for the following month's release.

At least, that's what I've heard and can gather from it. November's release is "Too Bright" by Perfume Genius.

Picked up some used albums today at Half Priced Books and put my new acrylic platter on there.

Joe Jackson - Look Sharp!
John Lennon - Rock N' Roll
America - Greatest Hits
Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky
A-Train - Live at Humpfrees
A Very Special Christmas (Liked this one when I was a kid and I am building up my Christmas albums)

My favorite out of these are the Joe Jackson Album, which as some of you may remember, Look Sharp! is an album that consists of two 10" records, and used copies that are in good shape are expensive (upwards of $50), so mine isn't in the best shape, but it plays, and it was only $9. I also really like the John Lennon Rock n Roll album.

Also picked up Eat a Peach by the Allman Brothers the other day. Record is in great shape and only $15.

I went to Fry's in Houston the other day and picked up "Undertow" (Tool) and "FutureSex/LoveSounds" (JT) [for the wife]; they had decent prices on new vinyl but some of it was absurd.

Also, my Primus & The Chocolate Factory came on the Mail on Friday. Slipknot's new album should be arriving today.

Here's my pickups from this month:

First picture from Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

"This is All Yours" - alt-j
"An Awesome Wave" - alt-j
"Chulahoma" - The Black Keys (they had the picture disc but I've heard horror stories)
"Slow Hands" - Eric Clapton
"Ski Mask" - Islands
"Sgt Peppers Soundtrack" - Peter Frampton, Bee Gees, Steve Martin (never seen this before)
"And The War Came" - Shakey Graves
"Too Bad Jim" - R.L. Burnside (Vinyl Me, Please release)
"Undertow" - Tool
"FutureSex/LoveSounds" - JT (for the wife)
"The Gray Chapter" - Slipknot
"Antics" - Interpol
"Primus & The Chocolate Factory" - Primus (brown vinyl)
"Welcome to Sky Valley" - Kyuss

Second picture:

"Forever Found" - Kan Wakan

Story on this one is Kan Wakan opened for the Arctic Monkeys last night in Houston, TX. I used to work the merch booth so I asked an old manager to hold me a copy of "AM"; needless to say, he held this instead and they were all sold out by the end of the show.
