Marlowe, that is a beautiful TT, what is that - a vintage Thorens? Forgive me if I'm off on my guess>

The only way to change speed on this Rega Planar 2 to pull off plate and move belt? If so that will get old after a while lol

You can buy the Pro-Ject speed box...it changes the motor speed by regulating the voltage to the main motor plug. It works with most tables/motors.

Vibrapods. Really inexpensive. Just make sure you get the right size. I think it's 5 different sizes according to weight ranges.
I use the smallest (#1, 2-3lbs per pod) under my direct tv box b/c that fricker hummed through my entire entertainment center. It doesn't make a peep anymore.
I have the (#2, 4-8lbs per pod) under my TT.

You can get them on amazon, music direct, audioadvisor etc.

I have a Rega TTPSU power supply that changes speeds. The Planar 2 can't use the TTPSU out of the box, but can if modified. This thread talks about your options:

Ok, so after doing the dance for a little while, and kicking the tires on a few decks, I pulled the trigger on a used Rega Planar 3 with a Sumiko Blue Point MC cartridge. Let's say I took a bit of a leap of faith, but I was blown away by this table straight out of the box. First of all, the thing looks immaculate, tonearm is beautiful and wires and terminals look brand new.

Speed was +0.5% and very steady, even with belt of unknown age. First tried the 48dB gain setting on my Schiit Mani preamp, then boosted up to 59 dB and that was the deal. Sounded great to my ears. Big upgrade for me. I'm very excited to keep heading down this rabbit hole.

Congrats on the Rega, that is a great purchase. It's fun to screw around with all of the extras you can add to the tt. Upgrade the belt for sure and look at the groovetracer upgrades. Get a JA Michell record clamp too - makes a big difference.

Ordered the ref belt already. Taked to Frank at Groovetracer on the phone for about an hour last night. Good stuff in store from there. Starting with reference sub-platter.

So the new chrome-faced Odyssey came in today, but I think there's a loose connection. Only the left channel plays audibly from the amp, the right is about 10% of the volume or less. I did every sort of cable swap I could to isolate it to the output of the amp itself. I think I'm going to leave it plugged in all weekend and see if magic happens, but I imagine I'll be giving a disappointed call on Monday morning.

Saw that. I thought of you.

And then thought about crying a little. Because I ordered this darn thing 4 months ago.

That sucks doc! I didn't have amp issues, but had cable issues. Sent me bi wire when I needed a traditional set up. What sucks is the bi wires were better cables that were closeouts and were cheaper than the ones I ended up with. I did at least use them until the new ones came in.

That being said... had a long week and this is the first time I've sat down in a while.
