Damn, I didn't know they did a reissue. I'm tempted to pick that one up!

Hey Marco, where do you keep/display your vinyl? I've seen your setup but not your collection. I'm looking for new ideas on what to do with all of mine.

They're doing the whole catalog-they've already released Piper through Ummagumma. Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, and Obscured by Clouds are due out 9/23. Can't wait for that Meddle!

Listening to Pretenders - Still Pretending (boot) on my Rega RP-6.
Just upgraded my SX727 to LED lights. Really digging the look.

Beautiful CD player! I love the look of the Pioneer Elite pieces from the late '80's to early '90's that had wood side panels. They were also well built and had great sound.
I had a complete Sony ES stack all with rosewood side panels in my high school days. To this day, I still think that was some of the most beautiful audio gear made.

Yes, its an Elite PD-71. Great sound/great look.
I've been on the hunt for an Elite cassette deck from that era to go with it. I've come close, but haven't been successful yet.

This pic is almost identical to my rig that I had in high school. My stack was almost exact as this one, except I had a pair of TA-N 55 ES power amps running bridged into mono instead of the stereo amp in the picture. I had the same tuner, same DAT deck, cassette deck, same pre amp, same CD player, but different power amps (not the TA-N 80 ES)
These are the power amps I had (my dad still uses them to this day!)...
I am now actively trying to rebuild this exact system. I have seen a few of these pieces pop up on EBay as of late. I hope to have it built up totally by years end.

Wow. Beautiful. Its going to sound incredible once you put it together.
This is a better look at the cd player. I'm using a 3 head Sony TC-K71, great sounding deck.

What makes the ES and Elite CD players so versatile is that they were slightly ahead of their time as they all had digital outputs allowing the user to send the signal out to a DAC. While this is commonplace now, back then, it was not.
Since chipsets have greatly evolved in the last 25 years, current DACs easily best those from 1989...however, the older ES and Elite CD players had such great transports (the part that spins and reads the disc), they can still perform at current high standards using a separate, modern DAC.
In fact, most high end CD players stopped putting digital outs on CD players for about 15 years. They recently started to appear again on expensive disc players about 7 or so years ago. Today, it's hard to find one without a digital output.

I believe the CT-91 is the cassette deck that was sold around the time of the PD-71.

Yep, either looking for a Ct-91 or Ct-93. A Nak Dragon wouldn't be bad either.

My dad has the same receiver in storage and offered to send it to me along with a Gerrard turntable (don't know the model). He had those with Pioneer CS-A700s back in the day.

You had this setup in high school? I am most impressed
I had a Pioneer SX636 (which I still miss) - sweet little receiver, could pick up FM stations from Lafayette (anyone remember KSMB and KTDY?)
