I'll be there tonight. I can't wait. What did he play in Houston? Did he do all of The Nashville Sound? I'm assuming he still does his DBT stuff?

He put on a great show. Lots of Nashville Sound though, although I don't really care for much of it. Only played Decoration Day and Never Gonna Change from DBT. BTFA cover of Whipping Post to close out.

LINK

Not a good venue for his fans -- sit down concert with the number of people getting up / coming back for beers and piss breaks was ridiculous. Needs to be GA / come and go.

Looks like his setlists have been 18-20 songs.

I went Friday and Saturday in Austin. Friday's set was all Southeastern to TNS, with the exception of Codeine, and was pretty mild up until they played Whipping Post. Saturday was much more of a rock show with Decoration Day, Outfit, Never Gonna Change, Dress Blues, and a Go It Alone opener as songs from older albums. Both shows were fantastic.

Noah also picked up on the political undercurrent of The Nashville Sound, bringing up Isbell's depiction of privilege in "White Man's World." Isbell repeated his story of the song's genesis, thinking about his daughter the day following Donald Trump's election to the presidency.

quote:

"The thing that popped into my mind first was 'Thank God she's an infant, because I don't have to explain any of this to her,'" he said. "She'll figure it out as she grows up, but if she was a couple of years older I would have to be like, 'OK, honey here's what happened today and this is why your father doesn't really know anything about human people in this country anymore."

frick this guy. I heard 1 song of his on XM Outlaw Country the other day and knew I didn't like him.

You can't have an Isbell thread anymore without an alarm alerting the goons on the poliboard to come over and whine.

Except none of that happened. Not in Jackson, anyway.

You sound like a fun guy to be around. Oh and your taste in music is terrible.
