Does he still have "it"? He's at Tips this Sunday and I'm debating.

You're gonna drop $100? Just pay $50 and see him at Jazz Fest.

Although Tips is "the" venue...be patient and see him with a bunch of others at JF

I have nothing but the upmost respect for Mr King, but no he does not have it anymore and hasnt for 10+ years.

Buddy Guy (BR native and overall legend) however is a must see.

He still had it when I saw him at Jazz Fest a few years ago.

I wanted to go just because it was at Tips but that's too much money for somebody I'll see twice in April at festivals.

I hope he does! I got my parents tickets to see him in a couple months....crappy gift if it's a crappy show.

In 2003 he was still a fairly good performer, it wasn't until the past few years that things started getting really bad. Still one of my all-time favorites though.

I've seen him about 4 times in the last 5 years. He sits down in a chair now the whole time except the last song. It's not as good as 10 years ago. It's only worth it if you've never seen him at all. If you expect the way it was on Austin City Limits or live in Memphis or Ole Miss, you will not see that. If you are a musician, the band is very good. He played at our Elvis Festival here in Tupelo about 4 years ago and it was a short concert ,maybe 50 minutes, maybe 1 hour. not really worth it for $40. I would go if it is your first and only time to see him. He will not play much longer at all, his concert days are about over.

I know people going to tonight's show in Jackson. I will let you know what they say if I think about it. They were trying to get me to go, but I just don't have any desire to go sit in a theatre and listen to a really old BB sitting in his chair. I think I would be kind of bored after a little while. But he's been entertaining for a long time. I'm sure he will tell some great stories and things like that.

Going in two weeks to see him in Shreveport.

Side note: What is the best live BB King album(s) to have?

Have a long drive tomorrow, want to jam some BB.

I have seen him 3 times, the last time was about 30 years ago (damn I feel old after typing that). He sat the whole time during the last concert so that is nothing new. Sometimes you just have to live with great old memories rather than risk replacing those with a dissapointment so I will probably not catch him live again...lots of cds and Pandora to keep me happy.

Live at the Regal is perfection.

Didn't know this one was $100. Will just cross my fingers and hope he's still alive for JF.

not a bad call, I've seen him multiple times through the years but wouldn't pay top dollar at this point- unless you've never seen him. He is near the top of the mountain as a living legend among all musicians. His individual show is much more expansive than festival appearances. Top notch band that is worth the money with bigger shows too.

As others said, Buddy Guy, now THAT is another question. Anyone who has never seen him should. At 76 he definitely absolutely still has it. So much so that when I see him I say to myself, "Dayum, I hope I still have it near as much as he does when I get that old."

That might even be an understatement. One of my favorites.
